In line with SKMC’s commitment to preventing illness by promoting health awareness in the community, BMI (Abu Dhabi) regularly engages with the public to raise knowledge about the dangers of obesity and the benefits of bariatric surgery for those who need one.

“Walking away from obesity” is a monthly public lecture held in the SKMC Auditorium that is presented by Dr. Abdelrahman Nimeri, Director of the Bariatric '&' Metabolic Institute Abu Dhabi of SKMC. BMI Abu Dhabi has conducted 15 public lectures since November 2009 No pre-registration is required to attend these lectures and they are open to all with the objectives of:

• Educating the community about the dangers of obesity.
• Identifying treatment options both medical and surgical.
• Highlighting potential complications of surgery.

This will be an opportunity for those who may be considered to be morbidly obese people to find out about some of the medical and surgical treatments options
