The multi-disciplinary Institute provides comprehensive care covering a wide range of subspecialties while working closely with the Pediatric Emergency Department, Pediatric Cardiac ICU, Pediatric ICU and Pediatric HDU.
Pediatric care delivery is not limited to the Pediatric Institute; it is the result of the collaborative work of several entities at SKMC. Highly skilled surgeons trained in ENT, general surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedics, plastics and urology closely work with anesthesiologists
skilled in administering anesthesia to infants and children. Board certified pediatric intensivists offer 24/7 coverage for our Pediatric ICU patients complemented by pediatric nurses skilled in acute secondary and tertiary care management. Moreover, SKMC has laboratory services that are unique to pediatrics including blood banking, rapid testing for child specific infectious diseases, specialty metabolic and genetic testing, and volume size blood per test.
Our pediatricians provide daily bedside discussions and reviews with the child’s family and care providers to better coordinate the care plan.
